There are ribbons on Waterhouse,
Yellow ribbons, tell me what you speak,
Are you a soldier going off to war,
Or a veteran gladdening family by returning home,
Do you echo the sadness of a loved one’s loss,
Or the fear and prayer for those remaining abroad too long,
Yellow ribbons, speak to me,
Because my heart is weighted by your questions,
And yearn for an answer that brings us peace
