Audi Canada has announced retail pricing for its all-new 2008 S5 coupe starting at $65,900. The 2008 S5 is the first two-door coupe on the Canadian market to wear the Audi four-ring signature since 1991.

The all-new 2008 Audi S5 is unique among the high-performance coupes available in Canada, thanks to its singular combination of V8 FSI technology and quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the S5 starts at $65,900 for the all-wheel drive V8-powered six-speed manual version, which will be in Audi dealer showrooms in November, and $67,400 for the S5 featuring a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, which will be available in the spring of 2008.

Included in the standard specification of the extraordinarily well-equipped Audi S5 are such amenities as an ultra-premium Bang & Olufsen audio system, the MMI information and operating system, Bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, LED daytime running lights, a large power tilt and slide sunroof and the Audi rear parking system.

The 4.2-litre V8 FSI engine gives the S5 a dynamic edge, underscoring its athletically accentuated styling. With a rated output of 354 hp, its peak torque is 243 lb/ft, which it delivers at 3,250 rpm.

Within just 5.1 seconds the new S5 can sprint to 100 km/h. But no figures can adequately describe the supreme free-revving character, the spontaneous response, the continuous power build-up, or the thrilling sound of this powerful Audi V8 engine.

An extremely precise, short throw, six-speed manual gearbox makes every gear change a pleasure. A six-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox offering unparalleled power and convenience is also available on the S5.

For the S5, Audi engineers have developed a completely new type of running gear. The front wheels are located by a five-link suspension arrangement with upper and lower wishbones. The wishbones are mounted on a subframe, which is firmly bolted to the body for high rigidity. Another completely re-engineered component is the precise rack and pinion steering.

Located ahead of the front axle close to the wheel centre line, this positioning enhances the car's very agile handling by its direct transmission of the steering forces.

Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system provides unexcelled traction with variable torque distribution from its basic setting of 40 per cent to the front and 60 per cent to the rear axle.

Within a fraction of a second, the dynamic drivetrain adapts to the current driving conditions and constantly delivers the ideal distribution of drive torque.
