Set on Fairy Lake in Newmarket, this two-day festival features a variety of entertainments and education on a sustainable living theme. The following are just some of the highlights:


Pre-festival Events:

June 3 & 4: Green Reel Film Festival.

June 3: Toxic Trespass, 7:30 p.m.; Everything Chocolate, 222 Main Street, Newmarket, donations are accepted.

June 4: FLOW: For Love Of Water, 7:30 p.m., Up The Yangtze, 9 p.m., $10, Old Town Hall Theatre, Botsford Street, Newmarket.

June 5: Greenhouse Gas and Trash Fashion Awards.

A fun and thought-provoking evening of fashion made from a variety of offbeat materials recycled into fabulous clothing. Also featuring the Second City Comedy Troupe.

Madsen’s Greenhouse, 160 Bayview Pkwy., Newmarket, 8 p.m.

June 6, 7: Green Ideas Conference.

Presentations and workshops on such topics as: Solar Energy; Wind Energy; DIY Green Energy Retrofits; Vegetarian Cooking; Live Organics and Raw Food; Lake Simcoe Protection Act; Georgina Island Pukwis Windfarm; Bicycle Touring.

Featuring noted environmental professionals and speakers. Conferences held at the Town Municipal Offices, 395 Mulock Drive, Newmarket.


Kids’ Eco Activities:

Entertainment featuring YTV’s Chris Mckool’s Kids Concert, Children’s Choir and much more.

Live Animals and Birds of Prey: presented by Earth Rangers
Nanabush Trails: Native storytelling

Earth, Wind and Water Eco Zones 4.

Other Events:

Cycling: women’s bikes, electric bikes and where to ride in York Region and Ontario.

Workshops: weekend projects include how to save energy and how to build a straw bale house.
