A Whitby man was arrested Friday in connection with a gunpoint bank robbery in Markham last month. On April 28, at about 7:30 a.m., two employees arrived for work at the TD Bank at 231 Main St. North, near Ramona Boulevard. When they opened the doors leading into the branch, a man in the ATM area pulled a black handgun and pushed his way inside, police said. The man forced the employees to fill a bag with cash and then fled.
The employees were not hurt.
A 40-year-old Whitby man is charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of forcible confinement, robbery and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
A search of the man’s home yielded cash and a pellet gun, police said.
