Seneca campus gets fundraising boost

A $10 million campaign to upgrade Seneca College’s Markham campus got a $110,000 boost thanks to Allstate Insurance.
The company handed over a cheque to be used for Seneca’s Leading through Excellence campaign and to fund a pair of $1,000 scholarships for students in the college’s business insurance diploma program.
Ironically, the campus is in the former Allstate building near Hwy. 7 and 404.
Money raised through the campaign, which is slated to end at Christmas, pays for equipment and technology, bursaries, capital infrastructure and more.
So far, about $4 million has been raised through individual and corporate donations, plus a town grant of $500,000.
