A Markham seniors residence is going artistic in a bid to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Woodhaven, a long-term care home, is joining Art for a Cure to present the Woodhaven Art Festival July 24.
The inspiration comes from local artist Herbert Pryke, a cancer survivor who wrote Gratitude Orchard, a book about his experience.
His goal is to sell 1,000 copies with all proceeds going towards the society.
Other artists will be at the festival, which takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at 380 Church St., east of Ninth Line near Markham Stouffville Hospital.
