On hunt for bank robber

York Regional Police continued to search for a man wanted after a bank robbery in Markham last week. Friday, just after 4 p.m., the man walked into the Royal Bank at 8165 Yonge St., near Uplands Avenue, pulled out a note, stated he was armed with a gun and demanded cash from a teller, police said.

After getting money, the man ran in a southerly direction.

The teller was not hurt and no gun was seen.

Investigators were still looking for the man as of yesterday afternoon, police confirmed.

He is described as male, Caucasian, six-feet tall with a muscular build and collar-length hair.

At the time, he was wearing black baggy pants, a black long-sleeved, button-down shirt, a black baseball cap and sunglasses.
