A 47-year-old Orangeville man has died from injuries he suffered in a car crash in Thornhill Monday.
At about 12:50 p.m., a black 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier was travelling east on Hwy. 7 east of Bathurst Street.
The vehicle was experiencing mechanical problems, so the driver stopped in the south curb lane, police said.
The car was then struk by a 1998 Ford Explorer.
The force of the impact sent the Cavalier into the guardrail on the south side of Hwy. 7 and caused the Ford Explorer to flip onto its left side, coming to rest across the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 7.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 62-year-old man from Scarborough, was transported to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier, a 47-year-old man from Orangeville, died in hospital. His name will not be released.
There were no passengers in either vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.
