A suspect is at large following a bank deposit robbery in Markham.
The suspect is described as male, six-feet two-inches tall with a muscular build. He was wearing dark-coloured clothes at the time and a black, bomber-style jacket.
Sunday at 11:25 p.m., the female victim was making a night deposit at the Bank of Montreal at Dublin and Main streets Markham when she was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground.
The suspect grabbed the deposit money and was last seen running west along Dublin Street.
The victim was not injured.
Business owners are reminded to be extra vigilant during the Christmas season when depositing money and should consider using an armoured car service.
If you are responsible for making your company’s bank deposits, always be aware of your surroundings and never go alone.
Use the buddy system.
Never make your deposits at the same time each day.
Vary your routine so you are not at the same location at the same time of day.
Do not approach the bank if you see suspicious people or vehicles, instead, report them to police
