Newmarket High School has earned the right to call itself green.

High school students across Ontario tested their environmental smarts during the 2008 Ontario Envirothon.

They competed against other students for the chance to compete at the Ontario Envirothon Championships until Saturday in St. George, Ont.

Newmarket High is one of 23 teams to compete at the provincial competition in the categories of forestry, wildlife, aquatics, soils and current issues. The winning team represents the province at the Canon Envirothon where it competes for educational scholarships.

Visit ontarioenvirothon.on.ca for more information about the competition or to see the results.
