The Georgina Ice celebrated their championship year recently with an awards banquet at the Mansion House in Sutton.
Scott Sedore was named the team’s most valuable player as well as MVP in the playoffs, while Kevin Stewart took the top scorer award. Joel Hanley captured two awards, top defenceman and league top rookie of the year.
Sedore’s playoff MVP award was only the second handed out in the team’s history.
The Ice will have a new skipper behind the bench next season.
After completing the second best season in the team’s short history, head coach Mike Sedore has decided to step down. He said that due to other commitments he has found it too hard to have such an active role in the team at this time.
He expressed his thanks to all the players and his assistant coaches Jeff Evans and Peter Hughes for their dedication and commitment to the team this year.
He said he wishes them every success in the future.
