Golfer ties for ninth place

Brett Pearl carded a two-day 10-over par 154 to finish in a tie for ninth place Wednesday in the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s Humber College Invitational event near Ancaster.

A member of the Humber team, the 21-year-old Markham District High School graduate, who just finished his second year in the professional golf management program, had rounds of 78 and 76 to finish five shots behind leaders and Humber teammates Mark Hoffman and Adrian Cord.

Humber won the team event.

In the same competition, Julia Hodgson, 16, a Markham District High School Grade 11 student, finished fourth in the ladies’ individual with a two-round, 25-over par 169.

Hodgson had rounds of 83 and 83 to finish seven shots off the pace set by Danielle Greene of the University of Toronto.

However, Hodgson’s Canadian Junior Golf Association team won the women’s division.
