The Markham Rugby Football Club men’s firsts and seconds swept their Ontario Rugby Union matches last Saturday against Lindsay at Austin Park.

Alex Koppel booted three penalty goals and a convert and Scott Deacon added a try to lead the Markham first to a 16-12 win.

The seconds received two tries from Tony Felix and one from Ian Sapford along with a try and convert from Jimmy Leech in a 22-7 victory.

The firsts and seconds resume league play today in London.

In a women’s match, Anne Capra scored a try and convert while Ashleigh White, Rose Labreche and Michelle Eisner each had a try to lead Markham to a 22-7 win over Belleville.

The Markham women host Belleville today at Austin Park in a playoff match. Game time wasn’t available at press time.
