Vaughan Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio won’t be deterred from doing her job, despite a request to audit her 2006 campaign finances, she said.

Ms Frustaglio is the latest Vaughan politician to have their campaign finances scrutinized.

“Everyone is entitled, as a taxpayer, to question what their elected officials do. I don’t have a problem with that,” Ms Frustaglio said.

“I do have a problem with why it’s being done and by whom it’s being done.”

The audit request was filed by Raymound Plouffe, a resident and director of the Vaughan Conservative Riding Association, shortly after he succeeded in having an audit ordered on former mayor Michael Di Biase’s campaign finances.

Mr. Plouffe alleges Ms Frustalgio accepted donations to her 2006 municipal campaign from associated companies, which violates the Ontario Municipal Elections Act.

Under the Act, companies are only allowed to donate a maximum of $750.

Mr. Plouffe also took issue with the addresses of donors not being included on her filings, which is a requirement.

Ms Frustalgio said she has spent a few days compiling the information that has been requested in the audit.

“I’m not perfect. Nobody is. Anyone can make a mistake. If there’s any omission in my filings, we’ll provide the information,” Ms Frustaglio said.
