Charges have been laid after a collision in Woodbridge Saturday sent two seniors to hospital.

At about 11 a.m., a 75-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were headed east on Rutherford Road near Islington Avenue in a Pontiac Sunrunner SUV. A Pontiac Grand Prix also headed east on Rutherford was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed and then rear-ended the Sunrunner, York Regional Police traffic Staff-Sgt. Chris Bullen said.

The man and woman in the Sunrunner were hospitalized and remain in serious but non-life-threatening condition, he said.

A 41-year-old Vaughan man is charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

If you have information about the crash, call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7703, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave a tip at www.1800222tips.com
