The Vaughan Health Care Foundation got a big cash infusion from Mayor Linda Jackson’s Annual Charity Golf Classic.

The event raised more than $200,000 July 16 at Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg.

More than 230 golfers took their chances to win hole-in-one contests and longest drive competitions. Silent and live auction proceeds rounded out the donation.

“Proceeds from this tournament will bring us much closer to building a hospital in Vaughan and improving accessibility for our residents to much-needed health care services in our community,” Ms Jackson said.

In the last six years, the city raised about $750,000 to support the Vaughan Health Care Foundation and various charities, committee chairperson Councillor Peter Meffe said.
