Canadian author and former actor Meg Tilly will visit two of Markham’s libraries Nov. 21: Markham Village branch (6031 Hwy. 7) at 9:45 a.m. and the Unionville branch (15 Library Ln.).

The reading is celebrating TD Canadian Children’s Book Week.

Ms Tilly is most recognized for her rolls in The Big Chill and Agnes of God, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award.

Now an author, she has published adult books and a novel aimed at teenagers called Porcupine.  

She will be reading an excerpt from Porcupine, a novel about the struggles of a family after their father becomes a casualty of war in Afghanistan. It has been nominated for book of the year awards by ForeWord Magazine and the Canadian Library Association.

Following the reading she will answer audience questions.
