Open house for curling plans
Open house for curling plans
Whitchurch-Stouffville
March 06, 2008 06:43 AM

Mayor Wayne Emmerson is holding an open house Tuesday to determine if there is enough interest to build a curling club in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Whitchurch-Stouffville council chambers at 37 Sandiford Dr.

Residents haven’t had their own club since the 1970s when ice at Rolling Hills golf club in Gormley was converted into a banquet hall.

Local curlers who compete at clubs in Uxbridge and Unionville have approached town council about a facility.

The club could be privately run but be located on municipal property, Mr. Emmerson said.

Members would run it and pay the bills through membership fees.
