A 26-year-old Georgina man was sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to the charge of willful promotion of hatred in connection to an incident last November in Georgina.

Luke Granados was also sentenced to 12 months probation once released from jail by Mr. Justice Howard I. Chisvin.

He pleaded guilty Sept. 29.

Following an investigation by officers, charges were laid against Mr. Granados and a 22-year-old man.

The charges against the second man were stayed.

Last November, an officer on patrol discovered a plastic life-sized skeleton that had been painted black hanging from a flagpole flying a Confederate flag.

The skeleton was hanged from a rope in a hangman’s noose.

Police also received a complaint and executed a warrant to remove the skeleton and begin an investigation.

On May 14, Mr. Granados was arrested and charged.
