…and finally set your sights towards the David Dunlap Observatory…
David Dunlap Observatory
Affiliated with the University of Toronto, the David Dunlap is an operating centre for research into astronomy and astrophysics--it was here, in 1972, that the first black hole was discovered. On weekend evenings, tours of the facilities are offered, the highlight of which is the telescope itself, Canada’s largest, measuring 18 metres in length and weighing 23 tons. Even for those with no great interest in astronomy, the tour is a fascinating experience. Some will find the beautifully landscaped grounds just as memorable as viewing the stars.
Location: 123 Hillsview Dr.
Season: Non-holiday weekend evenings, April to October
Rates: $6 Adults, $4 Seniors and Children
