LAMIA THABET: Missing woman got on a plane, a tipster told York Regional Police.

A woman missing from Markham since Tuesday morning, got on a plane at Pearson airport the same day, a tipster told York Regional Police.

At about 8 a.m. that day, Lamia Thabet, 23, who had lived in Canada only three months, left her home on foot intending to take public transit to an English as a second language class in the Kennedy Road and Finch Avenue area of Scarborough. She has not been seen or heard from since, police said.

Ms Thabet had never vanished before, is considered healthy and had no friends or family in this country other than her husband and in-laws. She has a very poor command of the English language and limited knowledge of the GTA. She had limited financial resources, according to police.

She is five-feet four-inches tall, 155 pounds, speaks Arabic, has an olive skin tone and brown shoulder-length hair. She may be wearing a red button-up shirt, blue jeans and black sandals. She usually wears a black or white hijab.
