Christina Foster fired a final round 1-under par 69 to run away with her second straight Ontario Golf Assoc. Bantam Girls’ title at Goderich Sunset Golf Club last week.
The 12-year-old Concord resident left the rest of the field behind during Tuesday’s opening round after carding a two-over par 72, which gave her a nine stroke lead heading into Wednesday’s final round.
A member of Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club in Stouffville, Foster continued her dominance of the field Wednesday, finishing the championship 1-over par with a two-day score of 141.
She was 15 shots better than the second place finisher.
Foster attributed her success on the links to her putting and in maintaining her poise after experiencing some adversity when she bogeyed a couple of holes.
“I had a great day out there and was putting great. I had a bunch of bogeys but made up for it with a number of birdies as well,” Foster explained. “This year’s win was just as sweet as last year and we will see what next year brings.”
Foster will be old enough to be eligible to compete in the event in 2009 if she chooses.
With her continued development into one of the future junior stars in Ontario, Foster could test the more competitive Junior/Juvenile Championship field next year, she said.
