The under-8 boys Vaughan Azzurri Battlecats rep soccer team beat went undefeated in its campaign to win the 2008 Aurora Can-Am Challenge.

The July 11 to 12 tournament was held at Sheppard’s Bush fields. Alexander Spadafora and Paolo Tiralongo scored the team’s goals in the 2-1 win in the finals, against the Whitby Wildcats.

The Azzurri earned the trip to the finals by beating the host Aurora squad 1-0 in the semi-final.

On the first day of action, to get to the playoff round, Vaughan trounced Peterborough 11-1 and dominated Aurora 5-2.
