A car blaze in Woodbridge Monday morning has been classified suspicious by Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services.
Just before 2 a.m., emergency workers were dispatched to Cristina Crescent after a resident reported she was awoken by a loud bang. When she looked out onto the street, she could see a black four-door Acura sedan fully engulfed by flames, York Regional Police spokesperson Const. Marina Orlovski said.
No injuries were reported.
The owner of the Acura was found by police and the vehicle was towed.
Officers canvassed neighbours in the area but to no avail, Const. Orlovski said.
By Tuesday, the cause of the fire was undetermined, Vaughan deputy fire chief Larry Bentley said.
“It is a suspicious fire,” Deputy Chief Bentley said, adding the car had not been reported stolen.
On Tuesday, police in Vaughan said a detective would be assigned to the case.
